A Crisis of Epic Proportions

There is a world shortage of hops!!!

This means a possible increase of up to $1 per six pack.

If at minimum you purchase a sixer of the beer of the week this could mean 52 whole dollars a year. If you consume like someone of German or Irish decent this could mean hundreds if not thousands of dollars per year.

Something must be done immediately, forget planting corn to make fuel* and fill your fields with hops.

Please folks, save the beer.

* this plan is short sighted anyhow

Helping you get your weekend viewing priorities straight since 2007

Thursday

7:45 (ESPN) Boston College @ Virginia Tech. This is a real chance for BC to disprove their doubters and make a statement that they belong in the national championship picture. Playing VT in Lane Stadium in prime time is going to be a challenge though. Key Fact: The loudness of the stadium and the nastiness of the VT defense derail Matt Ryan’s Heisman campaign.

Friday

9:00 (ESPN) Boise State @ Fresno State. The winner of the BSU/FSU game has won a many WAC championships in the last 10 years, now that FSU has rebounded from a horrendous season this game should be no different. Key Fact: Fresno’s head coach Pat Hill has the best mustache in college football.

Saturday

12:00 (ABC) WVU @ Rutgers. Rutgers has a chance to knock off two top tens teams in a row. West Virginia is looking to keep itself in the BCS/National Championship hunt. This should be one of the better games on a great day of football. Key Fact: There should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 yards rushing in this game.

3:00 (FSN) USC @ Oregon. The winner of this game puts themselves in a prime position in the Pac 10 championship race. USC is starting to get some of their injured pieces back, but have looked less than dominant the last three weeks (beating ND by 38 is not dominant). Oregon on the other hand has played well all year (including in the loss to Cal). If there was ever a year for Oregon to finally get past USC this should be it. Key Fact:

3:30 (ABC) South Florida @ Connecticut. South Florida tries to rebound from last weeks defeat at Rutgers. Connecticut tries to keep the moment (and refs) on there side to remain in first place of the Big East. Key Fact: Connecticut is playing a home game on national TV, and no folks this is not a basketball game.

3:30 (CBS) Georgia @ Florida. The loser of this game will have three SEC loses and somehow will still be alive to play in the SEC championship. Key Fact: This game will always be known as the "world's largest cocktail party", no mater what the PC people have to say about it.

7:00 (ESPN2) Kansas @ Texas A&M. Holy crap Kansas is still undefeated, and they even left their home state to get a win. A&M is still fighting for their coach’s job and would like nothing more to knock of the Big 12 north upstart. Key Fact: Kansas starts a quarterback who is rumored to be around 5’9”, all of these teams losing to a team with and Oompa Loompa at quarterback should be ashamed of themselves.

7:45 (ESPN) South Carolina @ Tennessee. Phil Fulmer is shaking in his shoes at the thought of the Head Ball Coach coming to town the week after he lost to another important rival. USC is coming of a miserable performance against Vanderbilt and will look to exploit the dominance of Spurrier over Fulmer. Key Fact: Game in Knoxville = too much orange.

8:00 (ABC) Ohio State @ Penn State. What is that you say? A test for Ohio State? Well some on air talent said the same things last week before the MSU game and as soon as the game was over went back to the “Ohio State has not been challenged”. I would agree they have not been challenged, when you are significantly better than your opponents the game should not be a challenge, just ask (Michigan, California, USC, ….). Anyhow, OSU has not done very well playing in Happy Valley, the crowd alone should give PSU 7-10 points. Look for this game to be a struggle. Key Fact: The last time OSU and PSU faced off JoePa had to run off the field to take care of “business”. Hopefully this year he does not have the same problem if he is out with the tailgaters (339 portajohns for 100,000 people).

10:15 (FSN) California @ Arizona State. ASU gets a mad Golden Bears team coming to town. California has lost two straight and has started to play their way out of the Pac 10 race, a win here will start to correct that, but they will need help from others. A win for ASU will keep them right in the national championship picture, and upcoming games with Oregon, USC, and UCLA could move them front and center. Key Fact: This game starts just late enough to be ending right at the time of a drunken stumble home from the corner bar, you have to love that.

Sunday

1:00 (FOX) NY Giants vs. Miami. Why should you watch this game? Because the game is in London and that is the only reason. The Dolphins barely resemble a professional football team these days and Elisha Manning should tear the Dolphins D apart. Key Fact: I predict at least one person vomiting from consuming too much warm beer with their fish and chips the night before the game.

BCS Ramblings

Ah the BCS....

As someone who grew up in 1-AA territory the BCS does not sit well with me. I would love to see at least an 8 team (or larger) tournament like all the other divisions do, but since we can't have that, we get a lot of bitching. And because I am told that bitching is what I do best here is mine for the week.

Is Ohio State the best college football team in the country? Well that is a very debatable question. If you believe the BCS, or the human polls the answers is yes. If you believe the computers the answer is no, they have the Buckeyes ranked 3rd. I ask you this: if OSU is not number one who is? Lets look at the next few teams in order of BCS ranking.

#2 Boston College (8-0). I would have no problem if you called Boston College the #1 team in the country. They have taken care of business and beaten every team they were supposed to. Unfortunately for them they, like OSU, have not played any particularly good teams (good teams defined by national perception). The good news for BC is the computers think they are number 1. If Boston College wins out they play for the National Title. The Eagles have a tough test Thursday night at #8 Virginia Tech, a win here and BC will be perceived as a legitimate title threat.

#3 LSU (7-1). Experts feel that LSU is probably the best team in the country and deserves to be #1. There is one key thing that makes me disagree with them being #1; they have a loss (to current #14, two loss Kentucky). If everyone wants to talk about how great college football is cause the regular season is a playoff and every game counts when you lose you should fall behind the teams that have taken care of business this far. If you want to keep LSU in the championship discussion while there are multiple undefeated teams still out there stop calling the regular season a virtual playoff. LSU’s current BCS situation is very favorable for them, this is of course assuming that they take care of business and don’t lose to any more teams that they are favored to beat.

#4 Arizona State (7-0). I would also have no problem if you wanted to deem ASU #1. They have also not lost a game this year. Once again the common thing among all of the undefeated teams is that they have not played anyone good. ASU’s resume is solid in my opinion , they defeated Colorado (who beat Okalahoma), Stanford (beat USC), and Oregon State (who beat Cal). I know you can’t use the transitive property in football, but those teams can not be too terrible if they all beat teams that were ranked in the top 5 for multiple weeks this season. ASU has a great chance to prove their title game worth in the next four weeks with games against Cal, Oregon, UCLA, and USC. If they go 4-0 they deserve to play for a championship.

#5 Oregon (6-1). Two weeks ago it could be argued that Oregon had the best 1 loss resume in the country and then the upsets started to pile up, and Cal (only team to beat Oregon) lost twice. Oregon has upcoming games against #12 USC and #4 ASU, winning these two games and making through the rest of the Pac 10 schedule unscathed will probably put the Ducks in the title game (this is of course dependent on some other things happening that the Ducks can not control, but with the way this season has been, winning out will probably get the job done).

#6 Okalahoma (7-1). Much like Oregon, if OU wins out there is a better than average chance enough of the teams in front of them will slip up some time in the next few weeks. Unfortunately for the Sooners they did not look good last week against lowly ISU, hopefully for them it was an off week. Possibly three tough games remain @ Texas Tech, OK State, and the Big 12 championship.

#7 West Virginia (6-1). WVU is pretty far down the list but they guys at College Football News have picked them to reach the title game. They will be favored in every game left on the schedule, but Rutgers will be looking for revenge from last years defeat and Louisville will be looking to ruin WVU’s season while making their disaster a little more bearable.

#8 Virginia Tech (6-1). Only loss is to # 3 LSU. This was a young, inexperienced team trying to help a university recover from tragedy early this season. VT is really coming on strong late in the season and the schedule sets up nicely for a run at the top. #2 BC comes to Blacksburg this Tuesday and the season finale at Virginia should be a fantastic game putting the winner into the ACC championship. If VT wins out in the regular season they will probably see a still highly ranked BC again in the ACC championship and a win there might be enough to push them past a few teams possibly still ranked ahead of them.

#9 Kansas (7-0). Yeah, yeah, yeah Kansas has not played anyone good. Blah, blah, blah. They are a Division 1 team in a BCS conference, remaining undefeated for the whole season deserves some respect no matter who your 12 opponents are. Fortunately for the BCS, Kansas will probably lose 1 or 2 games the rest of the way, but should the magic remain and Kansas is the undefeated Big 12 champion they deserve a chance to win the championship, no? You mean to tell me that the champion of the Big 12 conference could be undefeated and left out of a title game that would possible feature two one loss teams? That to me would be the ultimate travesty of the 10+ years of the BCS.

With Ohio State sitting at #1 right now it is win out and you are going to New Orleans (regardless about how you feel about them). Ohio State has four tough, but winnable, games left on the schedule. If the Buckeyes get through undefeated they definitely deserve to play for the national title under the current BCS structure. If there was a 8 or 16 team playoff at the end of the season I am not sure I would put my money on OSU to win it all. (Note: this playoff will never happen because the NCAA thinks they would lose money, there will be a whole post about this and how to save the other Bowl games some other time when I feel like writing 3000 words)

I think the major problem with the discussion about who is #1 at this point in the season is people seem to be thinking teams with a loss to a mediocre team are better than teams that have beat every mediocre team they have faced. If you want to be #1 win every game you play or hope that everyone else loses, but until you have the same number of loses I am not sure you should rank teams based on their opponents.

27 Outs Away

ALCS Game 5.

Tonight at the Jake: C.C. Sabathia and Josh Beckett square off for round two. C.C. has had two less than ideal playoff outings thus far and I can see him really coming up huge (and not just because he is 6’7” 300) and getting a gutsy win to get the Tribe to the promised land. The Indians bats are going to have to find a way to solve Beckett though. There have been grumblings of Beckett being in less than ideal physical form due to the high amount of innings he has pitched this year (supposedly this is what kept him for pitching game 4 on three days rest). Hopefully the Tribe can touch Beckett up early and get into the Red Sox pen. This game should start as a pitchers dual and then open up later in the game.

And since it worked so well the last two games,

Final Score Tribe 7 Red Sox 4.

Thursday

7:45 (ESPN) South Florida @ Rutgers. The state university of New Jersey looks to end USF’s dream season. Former Heisman candidate Ray Rice looks to find away to gain some yards against a stout USF defense. If Rutgers can not establish a running game it is going to be a long night of QB Mike Teel running away from pass rusher extraordinaire George Selvie. Key Fact: Rutgers is a one year wonder or so says the head coach of the minus three year wonder that is Syracuse football, Greg Robinson.

8:00 (FOX) Red Sox @ Indians. More on this later.

Friday

8:00 (ESPN) Louisville @ Connecticut. Connecticut has been one of the many surprises of the 2007 college football season remaining undefeated until last weeks defeat at the hands of Virginia. Louisville has been one of the bigger disappointments of the year having expected to contend for a national title. Louisville knocked off previously undefeated Cincinnati last week and looks to bring UConn back down to earth with their second loss of the year. QB Brian Brohm looks to get back in the Heisman race as he rights the UL ship back towards the bowl season. Key Fact: Both of these schools should start looking forward to basketball season, in fact all Big East schools not named Rutgers, South Florida, or West Virginia should start looking forward to basketball season. That includes YOU Notre Dame.

Saturday

12:00 (ESPN) Penn State @ Indiana. Normally there are a plethora of semi quality games to choose from in the noon slot, not this weekend. PSU vs. “let’s play 13” is going to be the only interesting game of the early afternoon. Indiana football is the feel good story of the college football season, after the untimely passing of head coach Terry Hoeppner. Penn State will be using this game as a tune up for next Saturday nights match up with OSU, but watch out for them getting caught looking ahead. Key Fact: One more win and Indiana will be bowl eligible, but with the Big Ten only having seven bowl tie-ins and a possible 9 bowl eligible teams six wins might not be enough.

3:30 (NBC) USC @ ND. Game of the Century! Oh my bad it is not 2005 anymore. USC looks to avoid losing to ND, something cross town rival UCLA can only dream of these days. Notre Dame will be trying to take advantage of an injured U eht C team to get their second win of the year. Cheeseburger Charlie will be trying his third starting quarterback of the year. Key Fact: Starting QB Evan Sharpley was recruited by Ty Willingham, for some reason if Notre Dame wins this game I think this little factoid will get lost in the shuffle, but should he lose …. Damn you and your crappy recruits Ty!!!

3:30 (ABC) Michigan State @ OSU. Yes Erin Andrews will be in the house and by the house I mean the Shoe. The last time OSU was #1 and facing MSU in the Shoe is a day all Buckeye fans would love to forget. I think this years OSU team was humbled by the thrashing they received in the championship game this year and will treat the #1 ranking with the respect it deserves as well as treating each opponent the rest of the way as a worthy competitor. I think it will be a while before a Tressel coached OSU team is caught over looking even the most feeble of opponents. Key Fact: Erin Andrews will be in the stadium, like anything thing else about this game matters, come on people.

3:30 (CBS) Florida @ Kentucky. Kentucky has had multiple chances this year to prove that they are for real (obviously they are), but yet again they are put to a challenge of epic proportions. Maybe it is just the historical value of the Florida name that makes me feel like they should be able to go into Lexington and have their way with the Wildcats, I don’t know. For Kentucky to win Andre Woodson will need to work the same magic that he used last week to knock off LSU. Key Fact: SEC teams have apparently found the kryptonite for Tim “superman” Tebow, it is called make someone else beat you (this plan has worked quite well for Auburn and LSU).

3:30 (ABC/ESPN2) Miami @ FSU. Talk about a historical match up. That is all these teams are good for these days, talking about the past. I see a wide right type of a game going down here, only difference from the field goal kicking adventure games of the past will be the final score of 3-0. Key Fact: With the kind of talent that these programs bring in they should be better than they are. Now that the U has replaced their corpse of a head choach (Larry Cocker) with Randy Shannon they should be on the rise. FSU could experience the same if they ever find the cojones to cut Bobby Bowden loose.

5:30 (ESPN) Kansas @ Colorado. Kansas has to be the most surprising undefeated team in the country, although they have only won one game away from home. The Jayhawks must travel to Boulder to play Colorado who has already knocked off one undefeated Big Twelve team (Oklahoma). Key Fact: Earlier this season Kansas coach Mark Mangino ate a small cornerback after blowing a coverage, since then the Jayhawk corners have been some of the best in the country.

8:00 (ABC) Michigan @ Illinois. This game lost a little bit of its luster after the fighting Zookinis lost in Iowa City last weekend. UM looks to stay on course for a Big Ten title match up with OSU at the end of the season. A home night game on ABC is a big deal for the Illini, Coach Zook is already a phenomenal recruiter a win with this kind of exposure could make him down right unstoppable. Key Fact: Michigan’s magical turn around has to end somewhere, and the Illini should be good and ticked off after last weeks upset, so why not this week?

8:00 (ESPN2) Virginia @ Maryland. This game all of the sudden has ACC championship implications. After getting shocked by Wyoming in their opener Virginia has come back to win 6 straight (3-0 ACC). Maryland only has one conference loss and is very much in the ACC title picture. Key Fact: Fear the Turtle.

9:00 (ESPN) Auburn @ LSU. LSU attempts to recover after falling from the #1 spot in the polls last week against Kentucky. If the last two weeks are any indication, LSU is in for a slug fest against this stingy Auburn team. Auburn is not going to score a lot of points but they also are not going to let you gain many yards or see the end zone very often (just ask Darren McFadden) Key Fact: LSU coach Les Miles is going to have to figure out how to rotate his quarterbacks more effectively to try to find a weakness in the stubborn Auburn defense.

7:00 (Versus) No game and that makes the Pac Ten very happy. Highly ranked Pac Ten teams are off the hook for a late Saturday night upset this week.

Tribe Wins! Tribe Wins!

Paul Byrd is the man.

A Salute to Notre Dame Fans

(From: Fanhouse)

Tuesday Randomness

If the college football season ended today Ohio State would be playing South Florida?? for the national championship. As much as I love OSU and want to see them run the table and play for another national title part of me wants to see the biggest pile up of deserving one and two loss teams so the BCS may be one step closer to implosion. I guess this would also work with one undefeated (OSU of course) and multiple one and two loss teams piled up behind.

The Colorado Rockies may be the scariest baseball team ever. What kind of team wins 14 out of 15 games to close out the season and then 7 straight in the playoffs to make the World Series. The Rockies now get to sit around and watch the Indians and Red Sox beat the snot out of each other for a week before starting the World Series next Wednesday. Hopefully for the Rockies sake sitting around for 9 days will not take their momentum away.

Speaking of awful baseball scheduling. If the Indians were to some how win the next two games (tonight and Thursday) baseball would take almost a week break before playing the World Series. Why not move the games up and get games 1 and 2 on Saturday and Sunday? Have a plan for a fluid schedule. Yes this would hurt the Indians by not letting them have their rotation set up, but it would be a reward for the Rockies for dispatching the D-Backs so quickly. If your argument for not doing this is travel concerns, stadium setup, and what not, I would point out the Rockies had no problem getting ready on one days notice to host the one game playoff with the Padres and the end of the regular season.

Going into the bye week the Browns are 3-3, anyone who says they are disappointed by this is a liar.

Kenny Kenny Kenny

Tribe wins! Tribe wins!

The mayor of Cleveland Kenny Lofton set the tone last night with a two run shot in the bottom of the second and Jake Westbrook pitched lights out (minus one mistake to Jason Varitek) to lead the Tribe to victory. Also the play of the night came in the first inning when the Indians were in the Papi shift and pulled a 4-5-3 double play, to get out of the inning, with third basemen Casey Blake masterfully covering second. The most underrated play of the game had to be Pronk beating out the double play, in the 5th, to allow Grady to score putting 4 runs on the board.

Cleveland now leads the series 2-1 with a great chance to get out to a 3-1 lead against the knuckleballer Tim Wakefield (this is assuming the Red Sox stick with their rotation and don't sneak Josh Beckett in on short rest). Paul Byrd looks to bring the same magic he had against the evil empire to the mound for the Tribe tonight.

And since it worked so well last night,

Final Score Tribe 7 Red Sox 4.

Monday, October 15, 2007

ALCS Game 3

Game 3 tonight at the Jake 7:00 PM. The Tribe sends Jake Westbrook to the mound to face Dice-K in a crucial match up. I have read that people (Dan Shanoff) think game 2 was the pivotal game of the series, I on the other hand think the team that can take this game will be in the drivers seat for the rest of the series. That being said I think this game is more important for the Tribe than it is for the Sox. Boston will still get to send pitching wunderkind Josh Beckett to the mound two more times in this series and if he can keep to his playoff norm that should be two more wins for the Red Sox. Therefore the Tribe needs to make sure they don't end up in a Game 7 situation in Boston with Beckett on the mound.

The Indians bats better be ready to put up some runs tonight, in game 3 of the ALDS the Yankees had their way with Westbrook leading to their only win of the series. Hopefully pitching in the friendly confines of Jacobs Field will help calm Westbrook down and let him pitch like the dominant pitcher we know he can be.

Final Score Tribe 7 Red Sox 4.

Beer of the Week

Week of October 15 2007 --- Beer of the Week

On Tap

Helping you get your weekend viewing priorities straight since 2007

Thursday

7:45 (ESPN) Florida State @ Wake Forest. Last years WF team absolutely pounded FSU into the ground in Tallahassee. This year FSU is team is starting to look like they have the ability to get to the ACC championship game and possibly sneak into the BCS. Key Fact: Xavier Lee is really taking to Jimbo Fisher’s new offense, look for FSU to roll.

Friday

8:00 (ESPN) Hawaii @ San Jose State. Now that the Colt Brennan Heisman train has been derailed this match up loses a little bit of its luster. But if you want to watch a quarterback chuck about 30 balls in the air and then sit out the second half this is the game for you. Key Fact: The Indians vs. Red Sox will be on at this time so there is no way I will be watching this game.

Saturday

12:00 (ESPN2) Illinois @ Iowa. The Zooker takes his Big Ten leading Illini into Iowa City to take on the disappointing Hawkeyes. For 3 million dollars a year you would hope that the good residents of Iowa would get a little more out of their football coach. Key Fact: The Illinios fighting Zookinis could be undeafeated in the Big Ten when they travel to Columbus on Nov. 10th, who would have believed that? (Now that I have said this they will probably lose)

12:00 (%$*^% BTN) Kent State @ Ohio State. The third of three give back to the little schools takes place in the Shoe. Ohio State looks to avoid the upset bug that has infected the entire nation. Key Fact: Jim Tressel wants to play all of the starters to keep them fresh; I would like to seem them spending most of the game on the pine resting their injuries for the stretch run of the Big Ten, but you have to remember to trust Coach Sweatervest.

12:00 (%$*^% BTN) Purdue @ Michigan. Purdue will be bringing their spread offense that got absolutely handled last week against tOSU into Michigan. This could be the best possible rebound game for Purdue because UM has really struggled with the spread thus far this year. This game will also give Michigan a chance to show that they belong in the race for the Big Ten championship. Key Fact: Curtis Painter needs to live up too being the “best quarterback Joe Tiller has ever coached” by getting this win for his team.

12:00 (ESPNU) Central Florida @ South Florida. USF had made a major statement this year and is the highest ranked team in Florida, but I can’t help but think that this game has upset special written all over it. UCF played Texas very tough earlier this year and will be pumped up looking to get a signature win over a neighboring school, while USF could be looking ahead to some lurking Big East games. Key Fact: UCF was the under the radar Florida school a couple of years ago and would love to steal that thunder back from USF.

3:30 (NBC) BC @ ND. Undefeated #4 Boston College rolls into South Bend to take on the red hot pillow Fighting Irish. So much for that 0-8 ND start, all it took was to face a team that is prone to underachieving starting its third string walk-on quarterback. This game should bring the goldendomers back down to earth. Key Fact: Matt Ryan has a chance to have a huge game in front of a national TV audience and put himself in the driver’s seat for the Heisman trophy.

3:30 (ABC) Wisconsin @ Penn State. Winner puts themselves in the driver’s seat to finish third in the Big Ten. I think ABC really loves these 3:30 Big Ten games that looked far more attractive 3 weeks ago. Key Fact: Penn State can’t score and Wisconsin can’t stop anyone, something has to give.

3:30 (CBS) LSU @ Kentucky. #1 LSU travels to Kentucky. LSU should roll in this game, but nothing this year in college football has been as expected. If Andre Woodson can will Kentucky to and upset he will put himself right back in the Heisman picture. Key Fact: LSU has Jacob “battering ram” Hester in the backfield and he will be too much for the Kentucky defense.

3:30 (ABC) USC @ Arizona and Texas Tech @ Texas A&M. Two games that can no be viewed in Big Ten country. USC is looking to rebound after last week's debacle. Tech will attempt to put up 100 points against A&M and embattled coach Dennis Franchione.

7:00 (FSN) Missouri @ Oklahoma. Probably the game of the day. Undefeated Mizzou goes into Norman to try to continue the Big 12 north’s dominance over the south. Chase Daniels (Mizzou QB) is really making a name for himself early in the season, if he can lead his Tigers to victory look for him to become a household name over night. Oklahoma rebounded nicely from the Colorado loss to handle Texas last week, and gets this key game at home. Key Fact: If Mizzou can find a way to pull this off look for them to be undefeated going into the season finale against upstart Kansas.

7:45 (ESPN) Auburn @ Arkansas. This season has not gone as planned for either of these teams, but a win here would keep the slim hopes alive that someone else could trip up LSU and then they could beat them as well to get into the SEC championship. Key Fact: Many experts think Darren McFadden is still the Heisman front runner, if that is true he should do what Tim Tebow could not and defeat Auburn all by himself.

No 8:00 game on ABC means NO BRENT MUSBURGER this week. Fanfreakingtastic!!

Sunday

1:00 (CBS) Miami @ Cleveland. The Dolphins show up to Cleveland with Cleo Lemon (??) at quarterback, he has the kind of name that sounds like he started for the Browns in the last 8 years. Key Fact: Derek Anderson reminds me a lot of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

8:15 (NBC)

Baseball

The quest for the World Series begins Thursday on TBS for the Diamondbacks and the Rockies. The Indians and Red Sox start their series Friday on FOX. Key Fact: Joe Buck is a douche bag.

Real News on the Blog (Sort of)

Miller and Coors are joining together to take on Anheuser-Busch.

This new Brewing conglomerate will sport the unimaginative name of MillerCoors. Seriously that is the best they can come up with? I figure it went something like this:

Coors Exec :
We are going to need a new name.

Miller Exec :
But we don't want to alienate our current customers.

Coors Exec :
Well lets just smash the names together and put a hyphen in between, we shall call it Coors-Miller.

Miller Exec:
We can't have a hyphen, Anheuser-Busch already dominates the hyphenated beer market, and I really don't see why Coors should get it's name first.

Coors Exec:
Come on now having Coors first is the alphabetical way to do it.

Miller Exec:
This is a load of crap, if Miller is not first we are going to walk.

Coors Exec:
Fine, we will select the order of our new ventures name the same way the
Cleveland Browns selected their preseason starting quarterback.

Miller Exec:
How did they do it?

Coors Exec:
Well of course they flipped a coin.

Miller Exec:
I love it. Simple and fair and it totally worked for the Browns. OK heads Miller first, tails Coors first.

Coors Exec:
Works for me.

(Coin flip)

Coors Exec:
Son of a ....

I am always a fan of a company that produces two products that directly compete with each other, it is obvious why I am not a business major because this crap makes no sense to me.

For the love of God and all that is Holy don’t start Paul Byrd

What is that you say? He stepped in and kept the Yankees in check. Well score one for keeping the rotation intact.

Just for the record I was on the start Paul Byrd bandwagon the whole time. Maybe he had not had the best record vs. the Yankees but pitching on three days rest after you did not have the best outing of all time is also a risky proposition. Thank you for the example Mr. Wang.

Now the Tribe gets to start the ALCS with the one-two punch of Shaqbathia and Carmona and Wedgie looks like a genius.

The best part of what happened is Wedge got his 4 starters the ball during the first series giving them all time to get some work in under pressure situations. With the first two games in Boston, Westbrook and Byrd will be pitching in the friendly confines of the Jake. If the Tribe can continue to score runs with two outs the way they did against the Yankees I like their chances with Boston.

Should be a great series.

Indians in 7

For the NLCS

Rockies in 5 (why you ask, they have only lost one of their last 467,983 games and it was to the D-backs, so the D-backs can have one)

No Blog This Week

Too much to do, not enough time.

MLB playoffs start Wednesday.

Tribe vs. Yankees starts Thursday.

Oct. 6 great football Saturday (not as good as it could have been due to last weeks upsets).

Whatever is in your fridge will have to pass for beer of the week.

That is all, check back next week.
