On Tap

Helping you get your weekend viewing priorities straight since 2007

Thursday

7:45 (ESPN) Florida State @ Wake Forest. Last years WF team absolutely pounded FSU into the ground in Tallahassee. This year FSU is team is starting to look like they have the ability to get to the ACC championship game and possibly sneak into the BCS. Key Fact: Xavier Lee is really taking to Jimbo Fisher’s new offense, look for FSU to roll.

Friday

8:00 (ESPN) Hawaii @ San Jose State. Now that the Colt Brennan Heisman train has been derailed this match up loses a little bit of its luster. But if you want to watch a quarterback chuck about 30 balls in the air and then sit out the second half this is the game for you. Key Fact: The Indians vs. Red Sox will be on at this time so there is no way I will be watching this game.

Saturday

12:00 (ESPN2) Illinois @ Iowa. The Zooker takes his Big Ten leading Illini into Iowa City to take on the disappointing Hawkeyes. For 3 million dollars a year you would hope that the good residents of Iowa would get a little more out of their football coach. Key Fact: The Illinios fighting Zookinis could be undeafeated in the Big Ten when they travel to Columbus on Nov. 10th, who would have believed that? (Now that I have said this they will probably lose)

12:00 (%$*^% BTN) Kent State @ Ohio State. The third of three give back to the little schools takes place in the Shoe. Ohio State looks to avoid the upset bug that has infected the entire nation. Key Fact: Jim Tressel wants to play all of the starters to keep them fresh; I would like to seem them spending most of the game on the pine resting their injuries for the stretch run of the Big Ten, but you have to remember to trust Coach Sweatervest.

12:00 (%$*^% BTN) Purdue @ Michigan. Purdue will be bringing their spread offense that got absolutely handled last week against tOSU into Michigan. This could be the best possible rebound game for Purdue because UM has really struggled with the spread thus far this year. This game will also give Michigan a chance to show that they belong in the race for the Big Ten championship. Key Fact: Curtis Painter needs to live up too being the “best quarterback Joe Tiller has ever coached” by getting this win for his team.

12:00 (ESPNU) Central Florida @ South Florida. USF had made a major statement this year and is the highest ranked team in Florida, but I can’t help but think that this game has upset special written all over it. UCF played Texas very tough earlier this year and will be pumped up looking to get a signature win over a neighboring school, while USF could be looking ahead to some lurking Big East games. Key Fact: UCF was the under the radar Florida school a couple of years ago and would love to steal that thunder back from USF.

3:30 (NBC) BC @ ND. Undefeated #4 Boston College rolls into South Bend to take on the red hot pillow Fighting Irish. So much for that 0-8 ND start, all it took was to face a team that is prone to underachieving starting its third string walk-on quarterback. This game should bring the goldendomers back down to earth. Key Fact: Matt Ryan has a chance to have a huge game in front of a national TV audience and put himself in the driver’s seat for the Heisman trophy.

3:30 (ABC) Wisconsin @ Penn State. Winner puts themselves in the driver’s seat to finish third in the Big Ten. I think ABC really loves these 3:30 Big Ten games that looked far more attractive 3 weeks ago. Key Fact: Penn State can’t score and Wisconsin can’t stop anyone, something has to give.

3:30 (CBS) LSU @ Kentucky. #1 LSU travels to Kentucky. LSU should roll in this game, but nothing this year in college football has been as expected. If Andre Woodson can will Kentucky to and upset he will put himself right back in the Heisman picture. Key Fact: LSU has Jacob “battering ram” Hester in the backfield and he will be too much for the Kentucky defense.

3:30 (ABC) USC @ Arizona and Texas Tech @ Texas A&M. Two games that can no be viewed in Big Ten country. USC is looking to rebound after last week's debacle. Tech will attempt to put up 100 points against A&M and embattled coach Dennis Franchione.

7:00 (FSN) Missouri @ Oklahoma. Probably the game of the day. Undefeated Mizzou goes into Norman to try to continue the Big 12 north’s dominance over the south. Chase Daniels (Mizzou QB) is really making a name for himself early in the season, if he can lead his Tigers to victory look for him to become a household name over night. Oklahoma rebounded nicely from the Colorado loss to handle Texas last week, and gets this key game at home. Key Fact: If Mizzou can find a way to pull this off look for them to be undefeated going into the season finale against upstart Kansas.

7:45 (ESPN) Auburn @ Arkansas. This season has not gone as planned for either of these teams, but a win here would keep the slim hopes alive that someone else could trip up LSU and then they could beat them as well to get into the SEC championship. Key Fact: Many experts think Darren McFadden is still the Heisman front runner, if that is true he should do what Tim Tebow could not and defeat Auburn all by himself.

No 8:00 game on ABC means NO BRENT MUSBURGER this week. Fanfreakingtastic!!

Sunday

1:00 (CBS) Miami @ Cleveland. The Dolphins show up to Cleveland with Cleo Lemon (??) at quarterback, he has the kind of name that sounds like he started for the Browns in the last 8 years. Key Fact: Derek Anderson reminds me a lot of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

8:15 (NBC)

Baseball

The quest for the World Series begins Thursday on TBS for the Diamondbacks and the Rockies. The Indians and Red Sox start their series Friday on FOX. Key Fact: Joe Buck is a douche bag.
