Holy a post

Yeah no posts lately, no beer of the week this week (yet?)

Had the opportunity to watch the return of Joe Borowski (he even got a save) last Saturday. He had three balls hit to the warning track (all caught) but as usual he made it interesting. And other than earlier tonight the Tribe sure sucks as of late.

Anyhow the reason for this post is this... the Uroclub. If this doesn't have father's day gift written all over it I don't know what does. No Dad you are getting one you will just have to keep using the woods, deal with it.

In all honesty how many guys do you know who will just not take care of business on the first tree that they see? Are you really going to pay $50 for that, unless you are going to fill it with liquor to sneak on the course. Now there is a plan.

Where Amazing Happens

In an unprecedented event the NBA called a halt to the Cavs/Celtics game 1 at the end of the 3rd quarter. With the score 76 - 72 in favor of the Celtics. With 3 of the 4 "stars" of the series combining for just 16 points on 4-38 shooting, NBA Commissioner David Stern thought it would be best to take a little time before the 4th quarter so these players could, and I quote, "get their shit together".

The NBA has been feeling a little resurgence these last few months but the last thing they need is a bunch of boring series leading up finals. Stern has stated that he will do everything within his powers to help every series last 7 games with the playoffs ending sometime in mid September.

The only objections were from Zydrunas Ilgauskus who was going for 22 and 12 and KG with 28, 8 and more importantly the lead. Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was also not thrilled with the decision, but he can "understand the commissioners concern".

Lastly this break in the action will give Cavs head cheerleader and trainer Mike Brown another chance to make little or no adjustments to how the Celtics are defending LeBron James.

Beer of the Week

Week of March 24th 2008 --- Beer of the Week

Corona

After spending the last 4 days pounding Coronas as my bracket went to shit, I figure I should make it the beer of the week. Plus who would not rather be sitting on a beach drinking beer?

Two other things:

-Even though your bracket is probably falling apart (and if it isn't you are a lucky son of a gun, or a girl who has no clue) you have to admit that it has been a very entertaining tournament thus far. Two 12s, one 10 and a 7 seed left in the sweet sixteen. Let's all root for a Davidson/Nova elite 8 matchup.

-Second, anyone who buys Corona Light because they think that Corona is too "heavy" should immediately give up drinking beer. I am not even kidding a little bit.

Oh and depending on how much I feel like procrastinating (so that I never, ever ever, leave college; at least not until they kick me out) I may write up a little something* about the sweet sixteen.

*Something that you should probably totally ignore if you are participating in a second chance bracket (Yahoo! Group #: 2339 password: 12345)

In a Perfect World

Some time in the not too distant future (say April), attention whore Terrelle Pryor is preparing to announce his future as a college student athlete…

Charlie Batch: “Welcome everyone Terrelle will be out in a moment to announce his intentions of where he will be playing while dominating college football for the next 3 years”

Reporter: “Charlie, what do you say to the rumors that Terrell has put off too many people by dragging out the recruiting this long?”

CB: “Terrelle just wanted to make sure he did what was right for him. Hold on… here he comes…. Terrell Pryor everyone”

(Pryor comes out holding four hats, OSU, PSU, Michigan, and Oregon)

Terrelle Pryor: “I will be playing my college ball for the University of Michigan”

(Thunderous applause mutes a cell phoning ringing)

TP (answers the phone): “Hey coach Rod, I can’t wait to get up to AA to start learning the spread and shred…What?... (hangs up phone)

(Pryor whispers in to Batch’s ear)

CB: “It seems due to the delay that Michigan has used up all of their allotted scholarships”

TP: “Everyone knows this has been a tough choice for me and all these schools were very equal in my mind so going with number two will be no big deal, I will be playing my college ball for coach Tressel at OSU”

(Applause, and then Tressel appears via satellite)

Sweatervest: “That is great news Terrelle, or at least it would have been 2 months ago. I am sorry to inform you we are no longer interested in your services here. We have no need for drama queens who need all the attention on themselves. I hope you have much success wherever you end up”

(Pryor is now fighting back tears)

TP: “I think I got some shitty advice from a guy who played quarterback at Eastern Michigan? Seriously Eastern Michigan, get out of here Batch. OK! Choice number 3, I will stay in my home state and play for JoePa”

(JoePa comes waddling into the gym yelling something incoherent)

JoePa: “Hmmmpdf hauidg ajiud. Third choice huh? We have no need for you go find some other school to play for, we will be just fine. Good riddens”

(Mike Bellotti, who had been in the audience secretly hoping that Pryor would pick the Ducks slowly walks to the podium)

MB: “Terrelle, before you announce that you would like to come out to Eugene to play football I have to inform you of some bad news. Nike, I mean Phil Knight, I mean the Oregon athletic department has pulled your scholarship offer due to your now lack of marketability, I mean academic issues. Sorry”

TP: “I guess I am going to need some more time to make my decision”

(Two weeks later)

TP: “I am proud to announce that I will be play my college football for the Temple Owls”

(Two people clap)

And that is the story of how the Temple Owls started down their path to the 2011 National Championship.

This is all I have to say about that

Yeah, that game sucked out loud.

It was not as bad as last year.

LSU was for sure the better team.

5 personal fouls did not help out OSU at all.

But what bothers me the most is all of the OSU choked again headlines I have read on the web today. These are the same sites that yesterday wrote how OSU did not deserve to be in the game and would be blown out. Since that is sort of exactly what happened, how can that be a choke job? Hmm ....

Michigan Blocking Scheme

Not much else I can add here.

Is the Fat Lady Singing?

A ridiculous scenario in which Ohio State can still make it to the National Championship game.

Here is how it could happen: Ohio State currently sits 7th in the BCS standing with West Virginia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Oregon and Louisiana State in front of them.

1) #7 Ohio State beats Michigan (preferably convincingly)

2) #6 West Virginia loses at Cincinnati or to Pittsburgh in the backyard brawl.

3) #1 LSU loses to Arkansas or in the SEC championship game (Georgia or Tennessee)

4) #2 Oregon loses at Arizona or in the Civil War to Oregon State

5) Now it gets confusing with the three Big 12 teams. Most likely #4 Oklahoma will be playing either # 3 Kansas or #5 Mizzou in the Big 12 championship. All three of these teams will need to lose one game. There are a few possible ways this could happen.

Scenario 1: Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma state and then comes back to beat an undefeated Kansas in the Big 12 CG.

Scenario 2: Oklahoma wins out. Mizzou loses to Kansas State. Kansas loses to Mizzou. Kansas beats Oklahoma in the Big 12 CG.

Scenario 3: Kansas loses to Iowa State. Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State. Mizzou wins out, but loses to Oklahoma in the Big 12 CG.

Confused? Good so am I. I read over that Big 12 thing 4 times and am still not sure if it works out right, but for the sake of argument lets say it does.

Now if the first four things happen OSU would likely move up to #2 and #1 would likely come from the survivor of the Big 12 disaster.

With as crazy as this season has been there is an outside chance of something like this happening. First and foremost OSU must beat Michigan this weekend and then sit back and watch the carnage of the rest of the college football landscape.

One last thing, if OSU and Arizona State lose one more game each and all of that other crap up there happens we could have a two loss team playing for the national title. How crazy would that be? Good luck picking what 2 loss team would be most deserving.

Playoff! Playoff! Playoff!

A Crisis of Epic Proportions

There is a world shortage of hops!!!

This means a possible increase of up to $1 per six pack.

If at minimum you purchase a sixer of the beer of the week this could mean 52 whole dollars a year. If you consume like someone of German or Irish decent this could mean hundreds if not thousands of dollars per year.

Something must be done immediately, forget planting corn to make fuel* and fill your fields with hops.

Please folks, save the beer.

* this plan is short sighted anyhow

Breaking News

CNN has just caught wind of the greatest scientific finding of all time. Men want hot women. This fantastic research was conducted by the University of Indiana (where they must have a shortage of hot women or they would have already reached this conclusion when they hit the age of, oh, 13 or so).

All kidding aside, they had to do a study on this???? With the way our country is behind the 8 ball worrying about what we are going to do when the oil runs out, we are spending our research dollars trying to figure out if men want hot women? Are these people out of their freaking minds? I think maybe we should spend a couple more dollars on curing cancer or finding a way to get to Mars, but maybe that's just me.

If you don't like this picture, this study says you are not a man.
