Best Record in Baseball

The Tribe is holding onto a half game lead over the Red Sox for the best record in the AL. Unfortunately for the Tribe, Boston will get their last 5 games at home while Cleveland has only one home* game remaining and then spends the remainder of the season on the road.

Remaining games:

Boston: 1 vs. Oakland (75-83) and 4 vs. Minnesota (77-80). The Red Sox are just a combined 5-5 against these teams, but 48-28 playing in front of the Green Monster.

Cleveland: 3 @ Seattle (83-73) and 3 @ KC (68-89). The Tribe is a combined 15-7 against Sea. and KC and 42-34 on the road.

Don't forget California/Anaheim/L.A. (2 games back) are with in striking distance of the home field advantage if they go on a monster tear and the Tribe and the Bosox hit a slump.

Even though all these teams have clinched playoff spots it should be a very interesting finish to the season. Whichever team ends up with home field in the AL will have it for the whole playoffs thanks to a AL win in the All Star game. Last but not least Boston has the added motivation of trying to hold of the Yankees (just 3 games back) to win the AL East.

*Game to be played in Seattle (got to love snow outs). Even if officially it is a home game it will not feel like it.
