Tribe Time

The Tribe goes for a sweep of the Motor City Kitties tonight with C.C. on the mound. A win would take the magic number down to 3. The Tribe at 89-62 are also only a half game behind the Red Sox for the best record in the majors (the Anaheim/LA/California Angels are also 89-62). Home field advantage throughout the playoffs would be awfully nice.

Could we get just one more Casey Blake walkoff homerun? Is that too much to ask?

Pillow Fight Report

Well Suckfest 2007 turned out to be a little one sided. Thankfully I spent my Saturday afternoon watching the Buckeyes beat up on UW. For those of you who did not get to watch ND vs. UM here are some of the Notre Dame highlights.

Beer of the Week

Week of September 17 2007 --- Beer of the week

Warsteiner Premium Verum

I have too much else to think about so I will quote Wikipedia "Premium Verum is Warsteiner's most popular beer. It is exported to over 60 countries around the world. Premium Verum is a pilsner style beer. The beer consists of forest spring water, two-row malted summer barley and all German hops. The alcohol content is 4.8 percent."

On Tap

Helping you get your weekend viewing priorities straight since 2007

Thursday

7:300 ESPN WVU vs. Maryland: Pat White, Steve Slaton, and company roll in to College Park to take on the Terrapins. Key Fact: Fear the Turtle. Update: D Funk is sporting his Buckeyes shirt to the black out.

Saturday

3:30 ESPN OSU vs. UW: Scary match up for Ohio State, Jake Locker looks like he could be the savior all of the UW fans have been looking for. OSU’s offense better show up to play because I don’t think the defense can keep Locker in check all day. Key Fact: OSU has lost the last two times they have traveled to Seattle.

3:30 ABC ND vs. UM: Seriously someone will win this game. Freshman QBs leading the two most winningest teams in college football history who both happen to be 0-2. Key Fact: Someone will start the season 0-3 and I couldn’t be happier. Wait, yes I could they could both 0-2-1 damn NCAA getting rid of ties.

3:30 CBS UT vs. UF: Can Urban Meyer continue to dominate Phil Fulmer the same way that Senator Tressel owns Lllllloyd. Key Fact: Phil Fulmer once ate 45 donuts in one sitting.

6:45 ESPN Ark vs. Ala: Saban back in the SEC against the Nuttyness that is the Arkansas football program. Key Fact: Nick Saban will not be leaving the Miami Dolphins.

7:30 ESPN Classic L’ville vs. UK: First team to punt loses? Key Fact: Brian Brohm may not be the best quarterback in the state of Kentucky (hint: Andre Woodson).

8:00 ABC USC vs. NU: How good is USC, the layup against Idaho did not show a team that looks like it is ready to run the table. Nebraska’s quarterback Sam Keller was a starter for Arizona State and has experience against USC. Key Fact: USC’s quarterbacks last name is Booty, ha Booty.

8:00 ESPN2 GT vs. BC: Best game of the day? Jon Tenuta , GT’s defensive coordinator will unleash his blitz happy defense on Heisman hopeful Matt Ryan. Key Fact: the winner of this game should be in the driver’s seat to win the ACC.

Sunday

1:00 CBS The Browns will walk on to a football field, and I care so much that I will be golfing, which means they just might have 4 or 5 good plays.

Baseball

All weekend: KC is in town to help the Tribe pad their AL Central lead and make a run at the best record in the bigs.

Coming Soon to a Television Near You

It is a tale of two of the most storied football programs in America.

One team began the year with national championship dreams, the other hoping to surprise everyone who thought they would be rebuilding.

And now, for the first time ever both teams have started the season 0-2.

They will both be starting true freshman under center.*

Last week they scored 2 combined touchdowns, only 1 on offense.

The defenses are giving up 32 and 36.5 points per game.

In other words these teams suck

On Saturday September 15 at 3:30 PM the Notre Dame pillow Fighting Irish travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan in Suckfest 2007. Someone has to win.

*This is assuming Chad "it's a man's bag" Henne is really hurt.

Rolling Rock

It's kind of hard to put up a beer from PA after the whooping the Browns took from the Steelers this weekend, but since my fridge contains literally nothing but the remnants of a 12-pack of Rolling Rock it shall be beer of the week.

This weekend

Tonight

8:00 NBC: The NFL kicks off with the Saints traveling to Indianapolis to challenge the defending champion Peyton Mannings.

Saturday

12:00 &@#$%*^! Big Ten Network: Akron comes to the Horseshoe to take on the Buckeyes in the 2nd of 3 give back to the other Ohio schools games. Key fact: I don't have tickets.

3:30 ABC: The Oregon Ducks (hopefully in some hideously obnoxious uniforms, and possible white!! helmets) go to the Big House in Ann Arbor to attempt to upset the Wolverines. How is a team that just lost to a 1-AA school at home favored by 8 to against a 1-A school? Obviously the odds makers know something that I don't. Key fact*: Chad Henne carries a purse.

6:00 ESPN: Notre Dame goes to Happy Valley to face the white out and a talented Penn State team that will be looking to get revenge after last years 41-17 defeat at the hands of the pillow fighting Irish. Key fact*: Jimmy "4 Heismans" Clausen will be starting his first college game.

9:00 ESPN2: Upset alert. USF (University of South Florida for those of you not well versed in your recent Big East Expansion teams) goes into Auburn to face the Tigers. Unfortunately lots of experts** also have called this an upset possibility. Key fact*: Matt Grothe (USF) is damn good quarterback.

9:15 ESPN: Virgina Tech visits LSU in the game of the day. This is the first test to prove LSU will have what it takes to play in New Orleans in the National Championship. Key fact*: Everyone and their brother who is not a LSU fan is rooting for VT.

Sunday

1:00 CBS: The Browns and temporary quarterback Charlie Frye open up their season against the Steelers. Key fact*: Brady "the next Bernie Kosar" Quinn will be in the game by halftime.

Update: Don't forget the Indians up all night series out in Anaheim/LA/wherever the Angels are from these days. First pitch Thurs. @ 10 (STO), Fri. @ 10 (STO), Sat. @ 9 (FOX).

** same experts expected Chad "it's a man's bag" Henne to set records as the Wolverines ran over App. State.

Breaking News

CNN has just caught wind of the greatest scientific finding of all time. Men want hot women. This fantastic research was conducted by the University of Indiana (where they must have a shortage of hot women or they would have already reached this conclusion when they hit the age of, oh, 13 or so).

All kidding aside, they had to do a study on this???? With the way our country is behind the 8 ball worrying about what we are going to do when the oil runs out, we are spending our research dollars trying to figure out if men want hot women? Are these people out of their freaking minds? I think maybe we should spend a couple more dollars on curing cancer or finding a way to get to Mars, but maybe that's just me.

If you don't like this picture, this study says you are not a man.

He's Back

Has Travis Hafner awaken from the dead? If last nights results (2 HR 4 RBI) are to be believed I would say it is a resounding "yes". The second homerun came in the top of the 9th down 2 with 2 outs and one on. A majestic shot to dead center, they don't call it the homer dome for nothing. To top it off Pronk knocked in the go ahead run in the top of the 11th on a rocket of a line drive to center.

If Pronk can keep it going through the home stretch and into the playoffs the Indians will add the most dangerous weapon they have to an already dangerous team.

The Michigan Debacle

I think every thing that can be said about this game has been. If I was not so lazy I would link to some of the better things I have found. So I guess you will have to search for yourself.

All I can say is I agree with the people who say this is bad for OSU and the Big Ten. Having Michigan as the laughing stock of the conference does not say much for its credibility.

That being said I did taunt every Michigan fan I know with in 15 minutes of the game ending.

The best thing I heard came from D Funk. The text message read: If my kids don't grow up to be Buckeyes I hope they go to Appalachian State.

Michigan Who?

Hypothetical Question #4

Simple question.

You can spend the rest of your life in a vat of something, what do you choose?

My pick: nacho cheese.
